Merry Christmas!

12/23/13

Hey Y'all,

Hope you are all having a great Christmas season! I love being here, in probably the most festive part of the country, and celebrating the birth of our Savior. But seriously, EVERYONE has reindeer antlers on their cars, there are Christmas lights on every single house, and everyone loves Jesus. I've never felt so festive!

So much has happened this week, I don't know where to begin!

So I'm "training" a new sister, Sister King. But I wouldn't really even call it training because I feel like I am learning so much more from her than I could ever teach her. She came out here pre-trained somehow. We are the most powerful companionship ever. I've never felt so unified. I LOVE her so much! She reminds me SO much of my sister Briana. She has the exact same personality. She is hilarious and loves musical theater! She has a great voice, so it's so fun that we've been able to sing together! A tender mercy that I get to spend Christmas with someone so awesome :)

We have had a crazy week full of ups and downs. We are having problems with our living situation again, and President will be moving us out shortly. We have been living with the YSA sisters (a trio) so there has been five of us in a teeny tiny one bedroom appartment, but it's been really fun!

On Saturday we went tracting/Christmas caroling and were really successful! We taught 11 lessons and handed out 10 copies of the Book of Mormon! And we invited everyone to Church the next day. Unfortunatley, no one came, but this week we met tons of new people and found six new potential investigators! It's a great time to find new people, but not a lot of our investigators will meet with us during the holiday season.... something about "not enough time" or "too busy." Interesting how they don't have enough time for learning about Christ. Because He's the reason for the season!

It's been that way with the members a little too. PLEASE don't be those members that are "too busy" for sharing the gospel or for helping the missionaries. Because nothing should stand in your way of the MOST important call that we have on this earth, to share the gospel. I hope we all make time to help further the work in what ever way that we can. It doesn't feel good as a missionary to be making the huge sacrifice to serve the Lord and feel like you are doing it all alone! HELP the missionaries!!!!

I LOVE Christmas time, and the chance that we have to reflect on all that we owe Jesus Christ. He paid the ultimate price for us so that we could return to live with our Father in Heaven again, and I know this is true! We talk to people all day who believe in all different kinds and forms of Jesus Christ. To some He is a political figure, to some He was a great teacher, to others He suffered for their sins so they are automatically "saved," some have His picture on their wall and His name as a bumper sticker, but have never taken the time to come to know who He really is.

We have to try to live like Him, and try to teach like Him, and try to become like Him to only begin to understand who He is. We do this through studying scriptures, prayer, and trying to conduct our lives as He would. It's so simple, so I hope we take the time, not only these next few days, but through out the year, to make sure we are striving to become better and do the things that we have been asked to do.

This life is no small task. Life is hard. I have seen that out here. But He is there for us. He's done everything for us. The least we can do is to make sure we remember Him during this Holiday season.

I'll leave you with a scripture that we've been sharing knocking on peoples' doors this week:

"Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of the holy prophets.

"Behold, I come unto my own, to fulfil all things which I have made known unto the children of men from the foundation of the world, and to do the will, both of the Father and of the Son - of the Father because of me, and of the Son because of my flesh. And behold, the time is at hand, and this night shall the sign be given."

3 Nephi 1:13-14

I love y'all so much! Thank you for the sweet letters and notes! I received a letter and picture from the Morgans and it made my whole day! Thank you! And I got a letter and a journal and gift cards from Grandpa and the Napiers! THANK YOU! It's so nice to know that people still remember you :)

Love you all! Merry Christmas!
